Scratched Xbox Games
Now that you have an Xbox 360 and have dished out a lot of money for your favorite game or a variety of games, you want to keep them in good playing condition. Sometimes, no matter how well you take care of your games, they become damaged. Maybe your friend returned them to you scratched or someone forgot to put them back in their cases and left them carelessly sitting on top of the television. No matter the case, if your games have been scratched, there is a cost efficient and easy way to repair them in the comfort of your own home.

There are is a technique to try to easily repair scratched Xbox games. First, be realistic and access the size and depth of the scratch. If the scratch isn’t embedded in the game too deeply, then gather a few household supplies. You’ll need a clean and dry paint brush, one that is small in size and commonly used for craft projects. You’ll also need a clean and dry cotton cloth as well as glass cleaner and some car wax. If you do not have a cotton cloth, a clean cotton sock will do.

To begin, make sure the disk is free of all dust. Simply blow loose dust from the disk then use your paintbrush to gently remove all dust and small particles from within the scratch. Next, polish the disk with your cotton cloth in a vertical motion. Do not apply much pressure while polishing and always polish the disk from the inside out. It’s tempting to polish in a circular motion but avoid doing this as you could cause more damage to the disk.

Squirt a small dab of glass cleaner onto the cloth and gently re-polish the disk from the inside out. Let the disk completely dry. Once the disk has dried, apply a tiny amount of car polish to a clean and dry spot on the cloth. Gently massage the car wax into the disk using the same motion you used to polish it. Again, let the disk completely dry. The car wax will have filled in the scratches. Once the disk is dry you’ll be back to playing your game in no time.

Many Xbox 360 games are scratched while in the disk drive. Avoiding this situation altogether is easy. While a disk is in the drive, do not reposition the unit from a vertical to horizontal stance and vice versa. When an Xbox 360 is up and running with a disk in place and is turned from side to side, it has a strong tendency to scratch whichever disk is in the drive. Also, never insert a cracked disk into the drive. By doing this, you’ll risk having the disk shatter causing damage to the console. This information is included in the manual accompanying your Xbox 360.

To avoid scratching your disks, handle them with care and keep them free of dust, fingerprints and smudges. Also, keep them in their cases between uses. Always use a soft, clean and dry cotton cloth to polish disks. A dirty cloth can create more scratches.
